On 9 January 2026, a joint operation by the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (FARDC) and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) dismantled an ISCAP (ADF) stronghold at Matolo-Kaseni, near the Ituri River in Mambasa territory.

Joint operations have pushed ISCAP out of several bases, but the group has repeatedly dispersed and regrouped along the RN4 and its forest margins. Gains on the ground need to be followed by protection of civilians and the return of state services, or the space will be reoccupied.
