As a result of an ISCAP attack on 12 June 2026, at least five (05) civilians were killed and several others remain missing following a violent assault on Kididiwe, in Beni Territory, North Kivu Province.

The victims were executed using bladed weapons and firearms, while the terrorists looted civilian property before withdrawing towards Virunga National Park, an area that continues to provide concealment and mobility for insurgent elements.

Local authorities cautioned that the death toll may increase as many farmers were working in surrounding agricultural fields during the attack. Kididiwe, a key agricultural area supplying food to the city of Beni, has experienced renewed displacement as residents abandon their homes and farms despite previous military efforts to restore government control.

The attack demonstrates ISCAP’s continued ability to infiltrate areas previously cleared by security forces, execute targeted killings, loot supplies, and withdraw before an effective response can be mounted. The group’s reliance on close-range violence and attacks against farming communities reflects a deliberate strategy aimed at undermining civilian confidence, disrupting local livelihoods, and weakening state authority.

Since the beginning of June 2026, ISCAP has conducted at least six attacks across the Beni area, resulting in more than 50 civilian deaths, numerous abductions, and widespread displacement. The sustained operational tempo indicates that the group retains freedom of movement and maintains active support and logistics networks within the Beni–Virunga axis. Without persistent area domination, strengthened intelligence-driven operations, and enhanced civilian protection measures, ISCAP is likely to continue exploiting vulnerable rural communities while expanding its influence across eastern DRC.
